Thank u for posting ur video. I have never seen a seizure before last night when i walked in on my 10 yr old son having one. He was already blue and foaming … I dont know y i walked in his room at that moment. We did CPR and called 911 due to him being so blue. We had no idea what was happening. No health probs, no history of seizures in him or family. This was the most horrific thing ever for me. Here is sit at midnight researching. Thank u so much for helping those like me understand this..
I had Absence seizures from age 6-13 then changed into Complex partial and Atonic seizures. I take Keppra and Lamictal along with Tegretol XR. Soon I will get rid of Tegretol yay.
Complex partials and Absences are hard to tell for most people. Education is the best way.
I had a friend name Andy that I know for years. When he was a little bit older he started to have Seizure.I did not know what they were when he started to have one at his grandmater house.I ask her what was going on and she told me what was happening. His Seizure got so bad that in 2006.He had one that was so bad that it ended up taking his life and he was 23.
Confirmed EEG, right?
This truly must suck for you, especially having an autistic son on top of it. You’re a very strong woman! I admire you.
Absence seizures are very hard to detect by an untrained eye. Sadly, many times, teacher, family, etc..will think the child isn’t “paying attention” when really the child is having absense seizures…it’s such a balancing act trying to find meds…nutritional and dietary supports….hope your friends are doing well….
What you are seeing in this video is POST tonic clonic activity as the tonic clonic I posted before was a bit too graphic and we were afraid our son would be teased by his peers if they viewed it…so we modified video…..the sounds you hear are how he sounds after he’s coming out of a tonic clonic seizure……he is conscious but not cognizant of what we are saying at this point….there does come a point where we ask him questions and by his response we know he’s coming out of the seizure
Yes, this is his younger brother. He was recently diagnosed with epilepsy last September…doctors don’t know why…they are still running tests and playing with meds….genetics even ran tests in our family to see if there was a genetic link, but nothing has come out positive….
This isn’t the autistic one, right? Is this his younger brother?
why does he breath so strange, like snoring? is he conchious during this, since he has eyes open? do hes eyes roll up during seizing or are they just like seen here?
im so srry tht he has to go thru this. i had 2 friends with epilepsy. the one girl has absent seizures every few minutes. i hope tht ur sons find a cure for their seziures
