  3. beamerfan says:

Spectacular, such a small sample of mucus, yet is capable of turning the entire beaker into a viscous, gelatinous goo.

ew they’re so gross i’ve caught them while fishing with my dad, and they coil themselves around the line and slime over everything. the grossest thing i’ve seen in my life so far :S

    @urgrad03
its pretty harmless, just very long protein chains that hydrate in the water and tangle up, its the same kind of thing that happens with jello (but it probably doesn’t taste as good). it degrades over time so that wouldn’t be a problem

  7. urgrad03 says:

I’m I the only person who finds this more than a little disturbing? I mean, what if they slime a whole lake or something? I almost want to slap myself for asking such a question, but what if?

  8. The343Player says:

    Good Prank

  9. pauldevro says:

you are total wrong about that, hagfish have mad chompers and rows of teeth.

Equal parts fascinating and disgusting. That’s some potent stuff.

  11. treetri88 says:

OMG this is awesome. I read about the hagfish’s ability to release slime for sometime now but to see it with naked eye is surely mind blowing!

nope, they’re only defense is that slime, they don’t even have teeth.

  15. tkem28 says:

I am going to throw the f up.

  16. hootinouts says:

Does the water that became slime eventually become liquified once again?

  17. xdiscotique says:

  19. MountAnalogue says:

will those things attack and eat u under water

  20. Snyblind says:

hm, well in that case it’s a wonder there hasn’t been an incident when they’ve slimyfied a whole area, not that I’ve checked:P Maybey they have some sort of natural methods or something to prevent that sort of thing…

  21. l33thustla says:

but they lives in group… many 1000 of them :S

  22. Snyblind says:

…The hagfish lives in water. But I don’t think it could make enough slime for the whole world, probably just enough to fend off predators

  23. l33thustla says:

so if this fish were to put in water the world would be out of waters?
